The Programme & Funds Committee organised a resoundingly successful Fund-Raising Programme on Friday, March 14, at the Amy Rustomjee Hall, WGU.
Dhanashree Pandit Rai, an exponent of Hindustani Classical music,Khayal & Thumri, trained under Thumri legend Shobha Gurtu and Pt. Firoz Dastur of the Kirana Gharana, gave a heartwarming rendering of old Hindi film songs based on the different Ragas. She was ably supported in her efforts by Keka Sinha, an expert in the Kathak style of dancing. Keka’s movements, graceful, expressive and simply beautiful,
were in tune with the singing and gave a visual depiction of the lyrics embodied in the unforgettable poetry, rendered so effortlessly by Dhanashree Pandit
Rai.
For the exclusive and elite audience, it was indeed an experience to cherish. The smiling faces and total involvement with the artistes’ performance was proof of the sincere appreciation. The applause was truly deserved.
