   Health is Wealth
Health checks were completed for both batches of the Study Centre children and thanks to previous checkups the children were mostly healthy and had just minor problems.

Dr. Nagpal has an excellent way of relating to the children who in turn have full faith and confidence in her advice. Her health checks are always accompanied by tips and demonstrations that the children find both interesting and helpful. Topics include the importance of hygiene, including feminine hygiene in adolescent girls, healthy diets and smart snacking, and signs to look for when things don’t seem right. This time they also included awareness of the COVID-19 coronavirus and how it spreads. One demo in particular that evoked a lot of response was how to wash your hands with soap thoroughly (for at least 20 seconds). The children also happily practised coughing into their elbows rather than their hands.

We are proud of the emphasis we place on regular checkups. They help to assess the normal development of the child; recognise problems early … recommend precautions and interventions. It is important for the children to both practise and carry health information back home to their families who have limited access to quality healthcare.

WGU is always happy to provide guidance where it is most needed. The doctor’s advice is very well received by our children and their grateful parents. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Laja Nagpal who so generously volunteers her time.
